To help Little Bear see his spoon when eating, we created a foam heart attached with a pipe cleaner. Craft stores will often have sheets of craft foam in various colors. We cut a heart shape out of a red sheet with glitter on one side. We then cut a slit in the center and inserted a red pipe cleaner to wrap around his spoon. We always make sure that we show him the spoon with the heart before feeding him. In the same way, we also use a red bowl at every meal.
This is a GREAT idea! I’ve wondered how to incorporate something into my son’s feedings that he could see…. this is a great idea!!!
I buy these brightly colored hard plastic childrens eating utensils from IKEA. They’re really cute and come in multi colored packs of red,yellow,green, orange, and blue. Unfortunately I don’t think they sell them online.
I recommend using red utensils, red plates, bowls and cups.
