A CVI Christmas!

Activate the tree button
For Christmas this year, we are focusing on making our tree CVI friendly.

CVI Christmas treeSince red is one of Lukas’ favorite colors, we purchased sparkly red ornaments (we found these at Sears) and big red light strands (from Walgreen’s) to put on the tree. The glitter on the ornaments adds the element of movement and he loves to look at the lights after dark. A purely red Christmas tree may seem a bit uninteresting, but for a child with CVI it is perfect!

In addition, our vision teacher has lent us a switch box that we can plug the tree into. This allows Little Bear to turn the lights on the tree on and off by simply pressing the switch. This is great for visual cause and effect and he loves it! Adapted switches can often be borrowed through vision therapists or occupational therapists, so be sure to ask your child’s therapists about this. Happy Holidays everyone!

Holy cow! The tree idea is brilliant! Both visually and intellectually! Wish I had thought of it years ago!
