Adding color and movement to strollers and wheelchairs

November 24, 2011 by Andrei 1 Comment

In order to make Little Bear’s stroller more visually interesting for him, we created a pair of red, sparkly butterflies we could attach to the toy bar. We purchased the same sparkly red craft foam and red pipe cleaner, mentioned in our Adding color to meal times tip, from a craft store. We then traced and cut out 4 butterfly shapes in the foam. We were able to make the butterflies more 3D by cutting a slit in the top of one butterfly and the bottom of another and sliding them onto each other. We then twisted several strands of pipe cleaner together and attached them to the butterflies. The pipe cleaner has to be thick enough to support the weight of the butterflies and long enough to wrap around the toy bar. Once placed on the toy bar, the butterflies bounce around everywhere we go, continuously grabbing Little Bear’s attention.
